Football Analyst Chris Sutton Takes On Artist Murs in Top Flight Forecasts

The Gunners' ten-match winning streak was ended by Sunderland before the global hiatus, however can the Premier League leaders bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still manage to win."

Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this term, against artificial intelligence, readers and a range of special visitors.

In week 12, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

Murs' latest record, Knees Up, is out on the weekend.

Soccer and Parenting Life

Olly is a talented soccer player as well as a accomplished singer and has been a star of several charity football matches down the years - but he is not planning a professional comeback as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a charity game the other night for a mate of mine," he explained. "My side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my child or boy chooses to play instead."

Murs and his spouse his partner have a young family, Madison and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their coach.

"I will not force football on our kids but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their Saturday soccer team," he added.

"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously owned a soccer team for a while too.

"My father coached with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I inherited it. He coached our team for several years and had great fun with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from fitness issues but their attack is now more potent with Pedro and Delap both back fit.

I still think this fixture will be quite tight, however. The Clarets are disciplined and their sole at Turf Moor losses so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.

This suggests a one-all tie to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

Olly's pick: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3

AI's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have lost their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, West Ham won two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they do look competitive again.

The Hammers' only on the road win this season came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's manager.

So, what on earth do I go with here - will it be West Ham continuing their streak under Nuno, or the home side responding?

I am going to choose Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

Olly's prediction: The home team are doing well but West Ham have improved under Nuno. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were considered one of the frontrunners for the drop before the season started, but they have surprised a several observers under their manager and are in good form with three wins in their past four games.

My son told me to select Brentford forward Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

The forward will probably find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or support the away side at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had great success on the road this term, and Brighton are consistently strong at home. Brentford will attempt to attack on the counter-attack but I think Fabian Hurzeler's team carry much more of a threat.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

The singer's prediction: It could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a many goals but it actually turns out to be quite tight. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a huge fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six matches.

They have got lots of quality in their team but it nonetheless seems like they could be sucked into a relegation fight.

As for Sunderland, well they are the unexpected success of the top flight season so far.

Their performance in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not seen anyone else rough up the North London side like that this term, and they were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing would be to support the Black Cats here, because they are clearly capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they beat the Blues at the close of October.

However I am not going to do that. Rather, I truly need to carry on opposing the away team with my predictions. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their good outcomes because they clearly love to prove me wrong.

Considering Fulham's home form, the sole team they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's team will be extremely desperate for a positive outcome, so I am going to say they will secure three points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

Olly's prediction: I'm aware Sunderland are doing well and also that Fulham are on a poor run... but they have nonetheless been respectable at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

It is a tough one to call. The Reds have lost seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but might they be among the sides who benefit from the {international break|
