Fresh Details Come to Light Regarding the Discovery of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Remains
Recent details have emerged about the shocking passing of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Los Angeles home home on Sunday.
The Discovery
According to a report citing a family associate, a practitioner arriving for an appointment initially became concerned after not being able to enter the home. The therapist then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.
When she went into the house, Romy discovered her father's body. Reports state she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also present. A companion who had accompanied her contacted 911. Afterward, first responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Charges
Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of murder in the first degree, including the charge related to a weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently being held and is ineligible for bail.
Disputed Reports
The anonymous source challenged several previously reported details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the estate, she did not identify him as a suspect at that moment.
Furthermore pushed back against published suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "worried" about Nick's actions in recent weeks. Instead the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction includes accounts of reportedly "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a event held by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the discovery. Although the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "blow-up" between the two were untrue.
Investigation Details
As stated by law enforcement sources, the coroner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports suggested the state of their bodies implied they had been deceased for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, about 15 miles from the scene. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until no sooner than Wednesday.
