Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie was released, establishing Pixar as a major animation studio and introducing audiences to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
In the teaser shows the young girl — who received the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser avoids is why the sheriff is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a fair and helping giveaway items find good homes.
Certainly, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Last Installment
At the very least, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the badge pinned to her outfit.
It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
